Wedding Day Beauty!!

Although this is an oldie... This pic is one of my favorite wedding pics of all time... If I must say so myself... I did a fab job on the makeup, plus I was the "Maid of Honor". I have received so many questions about the products I used so I decided to post it on my blog.

Get the Look!!!

The Bride - I used all MAC products on the eyes. In the brows: Spiked Eyebrow pencil, along with Brown Down Eyeshadow and Girl Boy Brow Set. NW35 Studio Finish Concealer as the brow highlight and I based the eyelid with Painterly Paintpot. On the lid I used Mauvement Pigment. I used Saddle Eyeshadow all over the crease, and used Shadowy Lady eyeshadow and Smoke Signal Pigment in the outer crease. I finished the look with Graphblack Eyeliner, and Ardell Demi-Wispie lashes with a coat of Zoomfast Blacklash Mascara.

The Maid of Honor - Strut eyebrow pencil, with Girl Boy Brow Set. NW35 Studio Finish Concealer as the brow high light. The lid was based with Blackground Paint Pot (the black makes the color pop more). On the lid I used Green Olive Pigment on the lid. I used Folie eyeshadow all over the crease with Smoke Signal pigment in the outer crease. Finish with Graphblack Eyeline, and Ardell Demi-Wispie Lashes with a coat of Zoomfast Black Lash Mascara.

PS: Mauvement and Smoke Signal Pigments were limited edition and are no longer available.

Update:: On the skin I used Dermablend Cover Cremes mixed to create custom shades. Then I set the cremes with Ben Nye Translucent Powders pressed into the skin with a velvet powder puff...  The cheeks are Peaches blush by MAC Cosmetics. The Brides lips are Vino Lip Pencil, Florabundance Lip Glass, and Date Night Dazzleglass all by MAC. I (the maid of honor) have on Cork Lip Pencil, and Just Superb Creamsheen Glass at this particular moment. I had it "tucked away" lol. Initially I had on Revealing Lip Glass...

MAC Bloggers Obssession Collection

On June 21, 2011 MAC Cosmetics will release their Bloggers Obsession Collection, which will be sold exclusively online. In February 2011, the industry giant reached out to several beauty bloggers looking for their input on what their ideal color choices would be for lipglass and eye shadow shades. After looking closely at several bloggers visions, the brand narrowed it down to 9 bloggers, who were then invited to their production facility in Ontario Canada to create their custom lip glasses and eye shadows.  The finished collection includes 4 lipglasses and 4 eye shadows that vary in shade range.

My personal favs are ALL of the lip glasses. I will probably buy them all. My favorite of the 4 is Patrice’s Liplass: All of My Purple Life. It has been a while since the brand has released a true purple lipstick or lipglass. I think it will look great with Magenta, Current & Nightmoth Lip Pencils, as well as over top of the lipstick “Style Curve” from the Stylishly Yours Collection.  As far as the shadows go… none of them seem to strike me as “must haves”, although the green slightly stands out amongst the rest.

What do you guys think??

Rachel wanted to take some pics for her 17th birthday, and has never modeled before but I think she should give it a shot! Something about this photo is speaking volumes to me so I decided to share it with you!

Ben Nye Final Seal

This was the very first “makeup sealant” in my kit.  I found it at a local theatre arts store one day when I was replenishing my fav Ben Nye loose powders.  The storeowner told me a little about the product and how it was great for locking in your makeup all day. He said it was used by a lot of stage performers who needed the extra protection while under the hot lights. So I thought to myself, well if it works for them maybe it will help my makeup last longer and battle my oily skin(it’s a matte finish), and that it would be great for my brides, and their long wedding days.
I purchased a small 2oz bottle for testing. When I got home I read a little more on the product and how it works. They said 2 to 3 pumps while holding the bottle 6 to 8 inches away from the face, being careful around the eyes and on sensitive skin…. RED FLAG! While I know that my own skin isn’t sensitive what about the many clients I want to use this on… So the next morning before going to work an 8-hour with a full face of makeup, I sprayed myself with the mist. What I got was a very strong minty smell, and a slight tingle on my skin. I waited for it to dry, and as it did I noticed that there was a few areas that didn’t look like it was sprayed evenly and it was kind of blotchy. Also, the product was sticky to the touch, and as it dried it felt like my skin was tightening.
I have EXTREMELY oily skin, and honestly I don’t think that there is anything in this world that can create enough barriers to keep my oil from breaking through. During the workday I checked my makeup and I must say that I wasn’t AS shiny, but a little oil did peak through. When I blotted my T-Zone with a tissue I did get some transfer, but not as much as if I would have just worn the makeup alone. My colors where still vibrant, and there was no fading.

Overall I think this product was just Ok. While it did help my makeup last longer throughout the day, I was kind of turned of by the disclaimer they added at the end about sensitive skin, which made me leery of using it on my clients. The stickiness and the tingle were another turn off. The last thing an artist needs is a client having a reaction or feeling any sort of tingle. Lol.

You can purchase this product at many stores that carry theatre lines of makeup and online from various retailers. The prices vary but I have listed what most carry them for below.

2 fl. oz. - $7
8 fl. oz. - $17
16 fl. oz. - $27
